Awaiting Restoration

By woolybill1
In the Orangery of Gibside, near Gateshead.

What a fabulous reaction to Receding Textures yesterday! Thanks to Ollie, Ken, Malc, Marie, Adam, Jenn and Carole for their valued awards, to Neville for his award on The Art Lover 1, and to everyone who left comments and votes or simply popped in for a look.

people are trapped in history and history is trapped in them...
p.s. fine textural detail in the old brickwork and i love the view offered by the window frame

How many times I've walked past that and simply not bothered. I really need to get my act together Blush
It's the way the light is falling on the view through the window that finally clinches it for me.

I think a bit more than a "do-you-it-yourself" project! I like how they have a protective bar to stop you falling out of the window, "bolting-the stable-door" comes to mind?

I like the way that the window shows a picture all of its own, Bill.

You imply it can/might be restored, nice if it were to be so.
Interesting places in their day to get fresh 'exotic' fruit, but now I only have to walk a couple of hundred metres to the local convenience store to get them.

I think it might be a long restoration but well worth it

Glad you gave the location - worried at first glance that this might be Woolybill Towers - was on the brink of sending a donation - looks like it could do with at least one other brick in the wall.
A beautifully framed shot (no pun intended - honest) which provides a picture within a picture. Lovely. SmileSmileSmile
