Away from civilisation

By LouiseTopp
This is up the hill overlooking Salisbury (or should I say Smallsbury?) I tried catching the golden hour but I probably think it's a bit overdone.

You can only take a picture of the scene before you.
This is a good, descriptive, picture.

For me there is not too much wrong with your shot, maybe a little bit too much space on the right so have uploaded a mod with a crop where I have tried to reposition the power cables to the central position within your photo. Also for a morning shot felt it was a wee bit on the cold side so use a warm up filter.

For me, it looks like it should have a crop from the left and a slice from the bottom to place the left pole on a third. Whilst not a slave to the rule of thirds, I think the composition of this would be stronger for it.

The sky seems to have uneven processing, like you've had to push the sky hard to get any detail, and it looks like you've used a brush to achieve it. The golden hour is all well and good, but the light still has to be right. This might be more of a candidate for a monochrome image, as there is little real colour in the scene, but a better light would help immensely. Veiled sun is never very good for landscapes.

There is nothing really wrong with this, it's just not very interesting content. The power lines are a bit basic in terms of an attractive compvosition. It is a record of power lines.

Yeah, will they still be standing in hundreds of years or will they be 'going underground' (tunes by the Jam)
