Away in a Manger

By Goggz
Heartened by the huge response to my last upload Wink I resolved to push the boat out further and went for a midnight walk.

I was out for nearly three hours and got home at 1.45am. It was really still and quiet, except for a farm cockerel which insisted on crowing most of the time! Must a been confused by the continuing light from the moon. Anyway, this is one of those serendipitous occasions where flare is welcome.

The title is a loose allusion to the time of year, based on the fact that the tree contains a "ruined" treehouse that many of the village children have used over the years I'm sure.

30 sec @ f18, ISO 3200.

Cheers, Goggz

Ooh very nice Goggzy... hope you weren't out frightening the neighbours at that time, and sorry to hear you were having trouble with your Cockerel (grin!)

It was so light here last night with the moon and snow on ground.. almost like daylight!

Really nice festive photo Pete, I like it a lot

Thanks Mari it was the same here too! I could clearly see the colours on the climbing frame in the village playground and the light green lichen on the rocks. Think I'll pop out again later Smile

Err, nope. I was wrapped up nice and warm - hat & balaclava, two pairs of gloves, three jumpers, thick trousers and three pairs of socks in insulated wellies (Muck Boots, best wellies I've ever owned). Not a shiver Smile

Jeanie - I seem to be coughing more indoors, so I'm off out again later Smile With a bit of luck I might see the fox which left the footprints in the bottom corner of the piccy.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Goggz

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention - the constellation Orion (or most of it anyway) is also in the frame. If I had a favourite constellation it would be Orion Smile

Beautifully captured and manipulated. This would make a fine Christmas card.
