Baby Steps 2

By chase
Colour this time and a dof I can cope with Blush
The little lantern is a tea light holder, I took a chance with Health and safety...and lit it, not for long I might add Wink
Taken in my Wendy House, I just love the diffused light from the cloudy, perspex window, covered with some old bits of net curtain on string.

Lit by daylight from the window and the door camera left, helped along by the lantern, which has coloured glass panels.

Raw file converted in Lightroom, finished in Photomessaboutshop with a straighten ( as much as I could ), tidy up crop, levels, touch of contrast and sharpening.

Thanks for dropping by.
Take care everyone.
Constructive critique and mids welcome.

I do like this and my preference has to be this colour version. Lovely composition, and the blue colour from the little lantern playing on the net curtain adds that finishing touch. Yep, it wows me!!!

Yes, I'm with Angela! A lovely follow-up, Janet, have to go for this as my fave of the two 👍

B & W and that clock in your composition worked together in a better way, but it is also a good shot...

I do like a good still life and this is a very fine version of one well captured Grin

Just the tiniest clockwise rotation seems nicer, to my eye.

Beautiful palette. DoF is entirely appropriate.

Thanks all.
John, lovely to have your UA, many thanks.

I did try to straighten stuff up, a clockwise rotation pushed the upright of the window way off for me but your mod seems to have a better result than my efforts, thank you.

I see this as giving a completely different message to the first one, so in my eyes, the continuation of a story.

Whereas I saw the first image as a start - a start in life, the start of a journey, the soft dreamy light of daybreak, if you like - this is more at the end of the day, the first part of the journey which began with the first image has come to a pause, to resume the next day. This is evening, hence the candlelight.

I like this Janet - I don't have the imagination to write a story about it.SmileSmileSmile it's a lovely lamp and details and colours are good.

And there's always the Skew tool...

I thought I might have to use it, but a half-degree of rotation was OK without.
