Baby Steps

By chase
These first, soft baby shoes are about 100 years old, I found them in a drawer.

I am so not a shallow depth of field kinda person so this is a bit different for me Blush
Had to be B&W, don't know why but this frame just shouted 'convert me' ! Not my strongest genre but I fancied something challenging today Wink
Taken in daylight.
Raw file converted in Lightroom, mono conversion done in Nik Silver, finished in photofaffshop with a square crop, levels and a touch of sharpening.

Thanks for dropping by.
Constructive critique and mods welcome.
Hope everyone is ok and safe,
Keep smiling.
Janet xx

The dof works for me, it has a gentleness that conveys the distance of time.
I have our daughter's first shoes still, I must hunt them out...

How lovely. How do you know their age? Are they a family heirloom?

Had to be b&w, they never had colour 100 years ago. Maybe hand painted. So wonderful to still have these. A very sentimental and lovely image.

Your choice of a soft, highkey b&w conversion is perfect for the subject, Janet. Nothing harsh nor contrasty, just soft and gentle hues (if you can have hues in b&w)

Yes, different for you, Janet, but well done! 👍 Good use of depth of field and mono conversion 😃
