Award Shortlist

Back to the 40s

By TrevBatWCC
An image taken at the 1940's weekend in Haworth in 2012, from which I uploaded some images back in August. When creating selectively coloured images, it's usual to convert the background to black and white, leaving the main subject in colour, but here I've inverted the effect to turn the subject to mono.
(image taken 19/05/2012)

Many thanks to Lin (sweetpea62) and Ju (JuBarney) for adding two more User Awards on my earlier upload, A snowy day in Oxford , most appreciated 🏆👍

Raw image processed in Adobe Camera Raw, tweaked in Nik Collection's plugins and Photoshop Elements 2020.

Thanks again to everyone for your vote & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging 😃👍

Seeing the subjects in b&w does underline the period feel. As Arne says, it's fun to play about now and then and can result in some rewarding images.

An unusual way of using selective colour giving the human subjects a rather ghostly feel.

It's very telling that nobody ever dresses up in the military uniform of a private soldier but choose to promote themselves instead.

A great image Trev. The 40s were just a little before my time but only just but the clothes depicted in your wonderful picture remind me of what my mother wore in the 50s.
Thanks for sharing

Trev - very nicely done. I do like the different facial expressions that you have captured! I think the inverted black and white works really well.I like the sandbags all in all my award!

I think your selective colour works very well, the subjects certainly stand out in mono. A sharp and detailed image as always Trev.

I really like what you have done here, Trev. The selective colour theme works so well and draws the attention more to the people in the frame......must say, what a motley crew!!!!! Great faffing, and I like that!!!!👍👍👍

The enactors look so authentic - your choice of selective colour puts emphasis on the flag.
