Baddesley Clinton (NT)

By Techno
Its sometime since I posted in the Photo Gallery, I've had a go at the Daily Competition in the hope of stimulating interest, but this has been the longest period I have experienced losing complete interest in Photography, and not touching a camera for months, Photoitis I call it, probably most of us have had a touch of it from time to time. not helped by lockdowns, travel restrictions etc:

But a sequence of events stimulated my Photographic appetite, I discovered my Compact Camera started to do strange things, i.e. suddenly and quite randomly would display the Menu, no matter what I reset, tried, or switched off for hours, would put matters right, maybe its time I replaced it, so not feeling like spending large amounts of money, I trawled the internet flea-bay/online camera sites etc, for a decent replacement compact, not like for like though, something with a focal range that would allow me to be bit more creative.

What about considering the 1" sensor compact market, Sony RX100 series or the Panasonic's, after much deliberation I chose a low mileage Panasonic Lumix Dc-TZ200, I after say, 4 weeks on I am delighted with my second hand purchase.

Booking slots with the National Trust has enabled me and my better half the chance to get out, stretch our legs and for me to put this tiny Point n Shoot through its paces, I'm under no pretense it has limitations, if it hadn't we would all carrying one, but how handy to pop in my pocket, and still have plenty of power under hood so to speak, the IQ imho is excellent, some reviews have said because of the Hugh Focal range (24-360 mm eqt) the compromise is soft images, not that I found that to be, my Canon 5ds or Fuji mirror-less can rest easily though, but for the most part I find myself re-energised Photographically you understand, and wanting to know more about the capabilities of this little wonder, so watch this space.

For those who are still with me, hope I haven't bored you with my ramblings
Mal

There's a great deal to be said for portability, with more flexibility that a phone, and this looks pretty decent, even viewed large.

Welcome back Mal! 😃 And with a very lovely image too, a wonderful looking building and some nice reflections - your new (well, second-hand!) camera has served you very well here 👍 Glad you've got over your Photoitis, must admit I have a touch of it being currently restricted in what we can and can't do. I and the camera are missing my holidays! 😳

Good to see you back, Mal and that your photography mojo has returned!Smile
Lovely shot of Baddesley Clinton - must book a slot!!
I can relate to what you've said in the narrative - we've been to a few NT properties recently and they certainly give you a reason to take a few pics!!
It's interesting to read what you've said about your new acquisition - I sometimes tire of carting my 5D4 and lenses about and have considered buying a bridge camera.
Hope you and yours are well.
All the best,
Richard Smile
