Baiter Skate Park 2010

By barefootwill
This was taken at Baiter Skate Park, Poole, Dorset. It was a very cold and wet day in November, and I was at the skate park with a friend modeling for some photos for college work, experimenting with reflections in the wet black metal of the ramps.

We weren't there long before we got hit by a lot of heavy rain and hail, which flooded parts of the skatepark. A little later, the clouds started to clear and the reflections got much stronger. This was taken just before leaving, of the sky and clouds reflecting in one of the larger puddles near the half pipes.

Taken on a Canon EOS 7D using a Canon EF-S17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens at 81mm, f/7.1 at 400 ISO, 1/30th. Shot on the 19th November, 2010, post processed using a Photoshop and slight adjustments with Topaz Labs.

It's a very well composed shot, but having tried it myself, I'm not a big fan of the Topaz filter. It just seems to have overworked your sky, and the reflections, to the point where everything has haloes. Perhaps if you worked on a duplicate layer, & backed off or removed the effect in those areas.

My vote goes for the shot itself, and those great reflections.
