Bamburgh Castle 2

By mrswoolybill
Seen from Seahouses at high tide. There are two gulls in the sky, I decided to leave them there.
The pimple on the skyline to the right is Lindisfarne Castle.
Second in series.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Makes me feel like an explorer, landing on a new land for the first time.

Not the usual viewpoint of this iconic castle - all the better for it. Excellent Moira.

A very well processed image, Moira. A very dramatic 'holy island'.

I had a job finding the gulls (visit to my optician?) but you would expect to see gulls in this scene. Beautiful wild sea set of by the castle in the background. Good 'un!

I think I prefer the earlier one... more for the particular distribution of tones than the squarer format... but I'm going to award this one anyway, so there.

Thanks everyone, and thanks to Alan and Cliff for the UAs.
Fifty years I have been living in the North East, I had never photographed the castle before. And I admit that this was mainly about the waves, which were crashing in. A lower pov would have been nice, but that would have meant getting very wet feet... (Plus the rest of me… )
I have one more to come, which is a square version of this. I like the > shape here that Diane mentions, in the square it's more about the foreground diagonal.

I love pictures like this. It is something special for me with pictures that have water. I have lived close to the water all my life, and love everything about it. This is so beautifuly captured Moira. I like the mood and the noise in this picture. Good work!

This makes me homesick for my life in Portland. I lived on a cliff right above the ocean. I do miss it.

Thanks Arne. I have lived close to the River Tyne for over forty years now, I cannot imagine not being near to water. The sea is more challenging, more aggressive. Yes, the noise, that was overpowering. High tide in March, there's immense energy.
Thanks again everyone.

I think I prefer this over your earleir upload, so it'll be interesting to see your square crop.

I've never heard Lindisfarne described as a pimple before Smile

I'm always in two minds whether to remove gulls or other birds from the sky - especially if too small, they can be mistaken for dust spots!! 😁 A fine seascape, Moira, I like how the waves lead the eye through from bottom left, over to the right, then back across towards Bamburgh Castle 👍
