Baron Bristol and the Bristollettes

By Ericsamson
Roll over Beethoven, sail away ‘Groove Armada’ and give it up for the super smooth lounge sounds of ‘Baron Bristol* and the Bristollettes’ hanging not all that loose and making some very formal shapes to some well restrained tunes. Nice. 😎😎😎 Some have suggested that this is an early example of Glam Rock but they are mistaken; geologists have confirmed that it’s clearly marble.

The impressive tomb of John, Baron Digby, 3rd and last Earl of Bristol accompanied on either side by his first and second wife, the former appearing to be the victim of a wardrobe malfunction. If not …………. one shudders. 😳 As always, apologies for taking such appalling liberties.
(The two cherubic figures seen on either side of the tomb featured in ‘The long dark teatime of the soul’ and ‘Wot? … Me?’

Exits stage left singing … ‘A tomb with a view, and you … 🎼 …’

Many thanks for the very kind responses to ‘I talk to the trees 2’ and to Mike for his much appreciated and very cheering award. Still have to write PMs but I have at least tidied the shed today. 🥳

*Please reassure me that I'm not alone in remembering an outfit called 'The Baron Knights'. 🥴

If I remeber correctly, wasn't Russ Abbott one of the original " Baron Knights "?
I saw them at Cambridge Corn Exchane many years ago, and still rmeber laughing all evening.

I would have thought The Baron and Ladies would have been a " Bar-oque " group ????

Brilliant article Graham, he must of had a happy and contented life as he managed 80 years of it before he expired!
Whatever happened to the Baron Knights?

But can he swivel his hips like Elvis? Or stand on one leg while playing his instrument like Ian Anderson?
I think they must have been one-hit wonders....

Very well photographed and a great write up, Graham.
Are they his children on either side, one from each wife or,
were they truly baron nights?

" I don't want to go to work, On me bike in the rain"
One of the Barrons more memorable ditties. Not sure if the
missuses accompanied him on that one...
They've been holding that pose for long enough...click the shutter. Smile

I am indebted to Trevor and David for confirming my memory of the Barron Knights and to Trevor for pointing out that they had 2 R's. Most of us get by on just one r's hence our polite response to 'Listen With Mother' when asked, 'Are you sitting comfortably?' Given that John was the third and last Earl of Bristol we might speculate that he was indeed a barren knight. 🥴
I am also grateful to David for his observation that this might have been an early Bar-roque group. Never thought of it. In consequence the brain cell is just completing a firmware update. 🤓
