Basking Lighthouse

By Anthony
Hello

The larger view is paid for, help yourself. Highly recommended.

This was shot last night. The lights did not come on the lighthouse, and I was there till 10.30 last night. Shame really. The lighthouse is lit here by all the street, bar and pub lights from New Brighton.

So myself, Gennie, and Chris (Cyclopse) who we bumped into, had to make do without the lights and get creative, lol.

Shot RAW, f8, for 30secs, 100 ISO, 0.4 underexposed, and 2 medium ND grads fitted to the front.

A little dodging and burning, slight crop, and re allingment of the horizon.

What do you think then?

Anthony

The sky seems to radiate from the lighthouse. An interesting effect!

I like the central comp and agree with the above comment. In the large version, there is some banding in the sky.

thank you folks.

I think the banding is in fact the clouds, they were quite striated, and over the 30 seconds this has softened a bit.

Cheers.

Beautiful shot, like the strip of lights on the far shore.

Beautiful shot. I'm curious to know if you took any where the lighthouse was on the left or right third?

thanks folks.

I took plenty of the lighthouse in the centre, to the left and to the right.

Great shot. Works well with the lighthouse in the bottom centre. Beautiful sky and lots of texture.

The long exposure has had a lovely effect on the sky. It works as a central comp, but maybe better placed to one side. No doubt you'll post one of them. Gets my vote all the same.

Chris

Just read Shane's comment. lol

I'm going to be a right miserable so and so. I'm not happy with the lump on the left. I know it's part of the landscape..but, in the time honoured tradition from the rocky horror show..it's a step to the left, and turn your lens to the right! Smile
Otherwise, not bad chuck, and I like it that you can see the clouds moving. Grin
