Battleship

By phonocar
The Ship on the right side should be the main object in this picture. I liked the idea of having part of the bridge as a window

It was a dark and grey outside when I took this picture so I decided to make it black/white and let it look old.

I think the idea of converting to mono is a good one & you have achieved the 'old' look you wanted. It does however lack a good tonal range & I feel a drop more contrast would help as everything is very grey.
The ship on the right is indeed the main focus of the frame but most of the subject is in that particular half which makes this unbalanced for me with lots of empty space in the centre, leading right out of the image with nothing much to focus on along the way.
Perhaps a step or two to your left would have put the ship in a better position & still maintained your view including the bridge as a 'window'..an idea that I like.
The top bar of the window could do with straightening I feel, try using the transform tool ( if you have photoshop ) & bring that to right edge upward a touch, you don't have to have it dead level but doing the transform would eliminate the small lighter triangle at the top.
I like your subject matter & this looks like a great location for a photography opportunities with lots of good shapes & angles.

I like this picture a lot, framing, toning and the general thought that has gone into it, I be pushing to find any neg comments for this shot.

The framing is a nice idea, especially with those big rivets. The description of B&W is not quite right, as this is not B&W, but certainly is a monochrome consisting of various shades of grey.

Ive uploaded a B&W mod with no other changes.

How you convert from colour to B&W or monochrome has a big bearing on how the final output will look.

This is light blue and white, or has the effect of a duotone. A well seen and composed image, but I would not have lightened the outer edges of the frame. Makes everything look rather flat.

I totally agree. This image stood out in your pf and I am pleased to say that I am not disappointed. I think you have achieved what you set out to do, make the ship the focal point, and '... liked the idea of having part of the bridge as a window' ... and I think it is always good to be different ...
