A nice image. It is a touch flat due to under exposure. You need to brighten a bit and add a touch of contrast. I would get in closer cutting out most of the surroundings and concentrate on the colours.

Hi again Freda!

As Paul has said, this is a touch flat.
I've added a mod. in which I've cropped the RHS, cloned the telephone lines to the LHS and added a touch more contrast using threshold curves.
I think that's livened it up a little!
Hope this helps.

It's a huge learning curve Freda.

It's probably fair to say that whatever you've used previously won't come anywhere near it.

However, you're in exactly the rfight place if you need any herlp!

may take you up on that..i used to work with IT programmes before i retired, but after a year being retired i am rusty to say the least..i did see there are some 'you tube' type vidioes to guide me through, but sometimes they dont give you the exact help you getting rid of power lines on this shot.

Hi again!
By all means ask as many questions as you wish!
We weren't all born knowing how to do this and however daft or silly your question might seem to you, the chances are that, not very long ago, we were all asking that same daft question!
Also the "techniques" section on here's pretty useful, although it can be a bit tricky to navigate.
There are loads of free tutorials ourt there on the web as well. I keep a pile of bookmarks of sites that I use, or have used, when I need to find out how to do a certain thing.
As for cloning your terlephone lines, with a little practice, it's actually very easy and it must be one of the most used tools in any editing programme.
I won't go through the priocess here, it's easier to understand if you have a look at this.
The toolbar that Pete's showing there relates to an earlier version of PS or perhaps "Elements" but the icon for the clone tool is the same. In CS5, it's the 9th. one down.
It will probably be set to "clone" by default but to be sure, right click on it and select the "clone" option. You'll see what I mean.
Hope all of that helps!
By all means PM me, I'd love to kow how you get on.

Hi Freda,

You did get around a bit whilst in Melbourne, am I right in assuming that this is Brighton Beach on the Mornington Peninsula?

Having looked through all of the posts for this image there seems to be a trend towards learning and PhotoShop. Therefore my suggestion to you instead of trying to battle your way through Photoshop and camera controls alone is to join a club. They usually have people who will help you with everything photography.

yes DaVes, it is Brighton Beach, the beach huts looked so pretty, i like the idea of joining a photo club as it would help to share the learning with others who have the same interest, i was so impressed with australia, on one day alone i took about 600 shots, it was on the Great ocean road so couldnt help myself, we got to the 12 apostles around 4pm just as the light was fading, it was stunning..i will post one of my favourite shots on this site, see what you think.

regards Freda
