These are abundant at the moment in the Ainsdale Dunes. On this one you can see the pollinia - the little yellow sac of pollen in the centre of the flower. A bee will land on the flower thinking it is another bee and looking for love - when it lands, the sac transfers to the bee's head. The bee then realises it is flogging a dead horse and moves to another plant where the sac is deposited thus fertilising the other plant - clever or what?
