Bee Orchid

By TonyDy
Had a great day on Saturday with the RPS Nature Group in Ainsdale Dunes. Found five different orchids, White Satin Moths and numerous other plants and insects.
This is one of the Bee orchids, Ophrys Apifera.

A fine example of where the name comes from

Watched an interesting Eden series this afternoon which covered the role of flowers etc; in the development of Mother Earth

On item was about a Carpenter Bee, which is the only insect that can unlock the pollen from some type of saltwater marsh plant, by vibrating it's wings in a High C
