Beef on Weck

There are two unique foods that originated in Buffalo, New York (USA). One of those, “ Buffalo Wings ”, is known around the globe. I ordered some while dining in a basement café in Prague, The Czech Republic.

The other culinary delight to originate in Buffalo, “Beef on Weck” (also known as “Beef on Wick”) has confined itself to the general Buffalo area.
Arguably the best Beef on Weck is served at "Charlie the Butcher's" restaurant near the Buffalo airport (in the town of Williamsville, New York).

The sandwich gets its name from the Kimmelweck roll on which it is served. Details are available at What’s Cooking America.

I shot this while waiting for our sandwiches at Charlie the Butcher's just before boarding an airplane back to Los Angeles, California.

Walter excellent capture and love the candid feel captured on this! While Bridget was at school upstate she would travel to Buffalo and go to the pub where wings were first introduced as i think the name of the place was Duffy's i think but i never heard of beef on weck, oh well guess that's a good enough reason for a road trip!!

stay well anmd please tell sue we say hello!

Very nice clarity in this shot. You've captured this very well considering the low light. Like the shot a lot.

School this year is keeping me quite busy, have fall break this coming weekend though Smile

Looks like a hazardous job, with those hardhats and everything. That beef must be very fresh! Anyway, the lighting was really good and you were able to keep everything sharp. No minor feat indoors.

Hi Walter,
Luv your new pf image.....I got a bunch of pelican shots in Cabo, just returned, had a blast!

Luv this shot, lighting is excellent!

Just wanted to wish you & Sue a Happy New Year, hoping you had a great Holiday!

Suzan Smile
