Tulbagh, South Africa. This is the entrance to my beehive, precariously erected about 12 metres up in a wild fig tree. This was done at great risk to life and limb, and was originally meant to be an owl box. This was to try and get these birds to nest here, and carefully designed for Barn owls. I subsequently found out that they were in fact Eagle owls in the neigbourhood, which favour a completely different design of box ! Never mind, the bee`s have made good use of it, walling up the entrance and leaving only a few small holes for entry and exit. The hive will never be robbed, due to it`s height which is out of reach of anyone, except the most determined of robbers!.
