Been Fishing

By jeanie
One of the terns who likes to dive bomb you as you land on Inner Farne.. Thank goodness for baseball hats! Grin. These guys are harder to catch than puffins in flight. I was told there are three species of tern on the island.. afraid I am not sure which one this is. Can remember Common Tern, Arctic Tern. and one other??

Smile

edit - been reliably educated and this is an Arctic Tern Smile

looks like an arctic tern the same ones that attacked my wife and Ia couple of weeks ago.
they were protecting the young ones roosting on the ground.

. I was warned beforehand about this, Jim, and made a quick trip to Sports Direct before heading on the road to buy a baseball cap - so glad I did. The terns certainly know how to choose their place for raising their chicks! Smile

Roy, I never saw the terns nicking - that was the black headed gulls, mainly.
