Carpenter Bee.

I have uploaded this Bee before so I decided to upload and share with everyone what I think is the Pre Mating Ritual.

V1 The Carpenter Bee.

V2. They stop what they are doing and come to look at my lens. Only the female has a sting (next image) but like most things they are non aggressive and I hoped I would be left alone.

V3. I could hear these bee's from at least 40 meters away as they very aggressively head butted each other continuously, making a dull thump. Here they line up again for another spectacular bump. Only the female has a sting and here you can see that clearly.

V4. The male comes and has a close look at me, even without the sting he was the aggressive one.

V5. The Male again lines himself up for another crash into the Female. If you look closely at his wings they are in a cupped position, just forward of his eyes, He is flying backwards and upwards ready for another attack on the female.

They are Bumble Bee size and drill perfectly round holes in tree's and wood to form a nest, hence the Name.

I could not find much info on this ritual but I did see it with my own eyes, many times I have seen incorrect info but I think this is enough proof. Look what Ron and Valerie Taylor discovered and proved all the books incorrect.

Thank you very much for your comments yesterday and to John and Raymond for the UA's
