I've spent a lot of time looking and working on this one. I love the idea. The sun is caught midway between dark sea and air, and the sea horizon is midway between two horizontal bars. I'm seeing elemental power trapped, caged, contained.
I've cropped to square for a more minimalist, and abstract, composition. I corrected a very slight barrel distortion, and skewed the lower horizontal bar down a notch on the right to level it. I like the way the sun is placed asymmetrically in the crop.

It's been a long day...
I love the dim detail in the water, so I used your alternative version as a starting point, adjusted Levels, and then failed to adjust the perspective. So I did that adjustment from scratch, forgot to do the Levels thing, and got the third mod.
Going back to that and adjusting Levels gave the fourth version...

Thanks you all for taking the time to view the photograph, Like what you have done with the tight crop Moira, dudler going to go back and have a look at this try and do a few adjustments see what I can come up with but you have definitely given me a few ideas. Thanks Paul.
