Ben's Stalker!

By tigertimb
I've often seen young tigers doing this when they spot small children, but I was really pleased to get this shot, as the only other time I've seen this stalking behaviour from an adult, I didn't have the camera ready (and by the time I did, it wsas just pigeon feathers everywhere!!)

I almost titled this "In the long grass" but decided it needed the title consistent with the series. I might make this the last from Ben's zoo for a while and save some of the other 100 tiger shots for a later date.

As it's a panoramic shot, please could I suggest viewing it large to do it justice as the small version is a little bit dull by comparison. #2 shows the original crop.

All comments and criticisms welcome and thankyou for your feedback on "Ben's Wolf"

Superbly natural looking pose Tim. I particularly like the eye contact through the grass. Very important in a shot like this. The crop works well in placing the emphasis on the animal and removes any distraction.
HOW MANY Tiger shots??? I didn't take that many shots in total after 14 days in Tanzania Smile

Alex, they had been showing lots of interest in the Maasai in their traditional costume, but am ashamed to say that I was too intent looking through the lens to actually see what he was stalking at this moment.

Thankyou ash for the mod and I do like the punchy brightness which gives it more instant appeal than mine. I left the contrast low as I was concerned to keep the detail of the fur in both the black and the white and the weather was distinctly overcast, which was the feel I was trying to capture

Paul, I just counted the actual shots and it came to 257, but a lot of them were bracketed, so the 100 might be about right. And I didn't have the worry of rationing the memory cards over two weeks!

you have done an excellent job on the focusing, managing to miss the grass and get it right on his eyes - you have caputured a typical cat stalking pose really well . well worth viewing large.
Just as an afterthought, I kinda like V2

Willie and Sue - I liked the crop of #2 as well as #1; but the panorama let me display the tiger bigger Wink

I like the way almost everything is softened by the foreground grasses except for that sharp, watchful eye. For me V1 is cropped a bit too close, particularly at the bottom, I want a bit more foreground.
