Many thanks for the kind reception of Jeanie the singer! Special thanks to Walter for the UA!

Yes, you are seeing right!!! At last there it is, the second large blue I spotted this year, round the mozzie lake. The fist one only stayed for milliseconds and decided it doesn't like geraniums.
they are known as Phengaris arion or maculinea arion.
I must have been a sight rolling in the grass (muddy) with an old jeans skirt creeping up on it.
v2 is a grab shot of no 1 in our garden.

how to get them to visit your garden:
1- leave the ants alone.
2 - leave the wild thyme and marjolain alone ( cut around it) but water it if needed.
3 - make sure to have the lavender in full bloom
must say we had about 5 last year, have only seen 2 in the garden this year and was really worried.

V 1 is particularly fine, excellent detail and with the insect showing up so well against the b/g tone, Annette.
And for a grab shot, V 2 is 'nae bad'WinkWink.

Such well detailed shots Annette.
And I assume with you rolling about the mud,
you will not be pursuing a new career as a female mud wrestler !!

Wearing a skirt around the mozzie lake.... asking for trouble Grin Nicely captured though despite the fashion faux-pas.

Talk about rubbing the Big O's nose in the dirt Annette!Wink He must be green with envy that you managed such a fine close up shot as this, the detail is sublime and you've captured its wing markings quite beautifully. Our Bristolian chum spent several days this year toiling up and down the steep slopes of Collard Hill in Somerset trying in vain for just a glimpse of the elusive butterfly, he did not see even one and got sunburnt, bitten by insects and strained his knee for his troubles and failed to sight even one! And you manage to get one visit your back garden!GrinGrinGrin
