This is a curious plant with lovely pale pink flower heads. It did well last year and is even better this year after a ‘no-mow May’.
It goes by the unusual name of Bistort, or Meadow Bistort. It has been used as a garden herb for centuries I discovered, especially in Yorkshire where a traditional dish called Easter Ledge-pudding (Kath??) was made, using it as a side-dish to lamb. (The inventiveness of Yorkie cooking, as well as using seasonal plants for good health is inspiring).
Curious I’d never seen it before moving here, and certainly hadn’t come across the name. Any free and edible green garden plants can’t be bad!
