Black and Gold

By alansdottir
Back to December for this one - a very chilly afternoon on the beach whilst visiting my mother just before New Year.

Something about the angles and lines, with the circular ripples in the light caught my eye - several attempts later - it was all in the timing - this was the best, before the light moved round and spoiled the angle.

Tech stuff: ISO 200; shutter 1/18 sec; aperture f/8. Monopod - and extremely cold toes! It was that cold that the chocolate on the biscuits was all but frozen!

Avery good, strong composition with some lovely tones. The textures on the groyne are particularly attractive.

Like the unusal angle/viewpoint and how you have observed this in a visual sense.Like the title too.

You could write a thesis on this one. The four textures; rock, sand, wood, water. The interaction of water, sand, tide, time. The interplay of light, shade, reflection, colour. And above all, the eye that conceived the image and created such a masterful composition.

Great study of the play of light and shadow. Interesting angle you have employed, really had me LOOKING at this for quite some time.

Graham and others have said it far better than I could! A deceptively simple, abstract image that shows so much depth when studied.

Another great shot,

A beautifully simple image, lots of different textures and just a hint of movement in the water, very well spotted and taken. Hope your toes have thawed out!!.
