Excellent capture.. I wouldn't be able to find them through view finder..it must be very difficult, they fly very fast, aren't they?

Thanks Jasmine but not as fast as swallows and starlings. I used continous focusing and high ISO to keep the shutter speed up but the most difficult thing was being buffeted by the wind and trying to hold the camera still. The VR helped to stabilised a bit. Then it's a bit potluck. Thanks for the comments as always. Paul

There are loads of Gulls at Whitlingham, my favourite place. So far haven't managed a decent shot, just half a wing or blurred shot etc. I use continous focus, will try upping my ISO. Excellent capture Paul, especially on a windy day.
