Great capture Mike. I only noticed this bird for the 1st time last June, and managed a quick couple of shots from above it - no-where near as good as this keeper. I did not know what the bird was until I posted it here, and got some help from Tony Guitar/TG. Well done. Have my UA.

Yes, as Thomas says. This close encounter of yours is a thrill. I am envious, as they are quite rare in my zone at least. That red mouth is unusual too. Are they rare where you saw this one? Very few have been here on EPZ. TG

TG There was a flock of about 20 swimming about in the harbour by a derelict WW1/2 pier.

We have some that breed in Bangor, NI but never caught one with mouth open...makes a great image 😁
