Blackness Boat Club Launch

By XavierS
I went to Blackness late one evening to photograph the castle. I was stopped in my tracks when I saw how calm the Forth Estuary was, so I concentrated my effort on the reflections on the water.

Great shot and nice reflection.

I really like this, the muted tones and reflections are spot on. If anything, the jetty doesn't really lead in to the shot and I would be tempted to have shot it landscape and left the jetty out altogether

I agree with Richard - the jetty can be cropped out. Also a touch of extra contrast via a curves adjustment may help. I've uploaded a mod for you.

Square format would work for me too. I don't think it needs the curves adjustment though, the subtlety of this shot is what gives it appeal. Take out the light block at the top left though, it pulls away from the main image once you've seen it, and no-one would miss it if it went. Smile

Thanks to Richardwheel, Carabosse & Discreetphoton. I really appreciate your comments and will eagerly accept any help I can get. Thanks for your comment too Vicky.
I think you guys are right about the square format.
