andy the Nikon D2h ( borrowed from one of my photographers)on the face of it looks like the better camera...smaller tiff file size and a few other things that for landscape are not right, for press work my guys love it because it is so fast. I suppose if money wasn't a problem I would have gone for the Canon mark 11 but the price is ridiculous.

Hello Dougie, A good shot of a location I find hard to pass, but I would like to make a small point as you are inviting viewpoints. You could have the finest equipment money can buy but if the conditions are not correct you could find that it is no fault of the camera as the Glencoe area proves time after time. I mean this in a kind way. Have a good week my friend.

You are using the same arguments I use myself. I do like to produce large prints as well, and this is where better lenses pay off. My wee Nikon coolpix is not going to the back of the cupboard awhile. The D2h is only on loan. Your comment is well put though and people should not think that expensive cameras will make them better photographers.
The light y'day was bouncing off the clouds and I felt was very soft and diffuse. All the best, Dougie
