Are these the fishing nets at Cochin ? (referred to as 'Chinese' I think)

Yes, this is one of those chinese fishing nets. legend has it that the explorer Zheng He brought this unsual fixed contsruction of fishing net which work by a complicated pulley system. you find them all over the backwater, big and small.... thsi one here is submerged waiting for the tide to bring in the catch....

I reckon this is your best non-people upload. Super composition and colour, and a strange, mysterious feel. The fishing nets look like a gigantic insect with spindly legs. Almost silhouettes, but just enough detail for a sense of depth.
I particularly like the long low crop combined with the 50/50 horizon split.

What an amazing structure, like a gigantic spider or a mantis. The colour is very serene.
Enjoy your lazy week-end!

Thanks for info. My father was based at Cochin with Indian Navy during WW2 - I have some lovely b & w photographs of these taken then - they are extremely photogenic. I'll look out for any more from you!
