Blue-cheeked bee-eater

By ajdh
This bee-eater is not calling, it's gasping for breath. The picture was taken in Saudi Arabia in a temperature of 42 deg C. Due to the wind it has assumed this flat attitude.

This is an excellent photo of this bee eater with his aircon on Smile We see it often when it is so warm and dry that the birds have their mouths open - it is their way of cooling down. Have a saying in Afrikaans [ translated ] It is so warm the crows are yawning Smile
