Blue hat

By nellacphoto
A friend sent me the colour version of this shot a while back (v1)

It is of his wife and two step daughters

He said "Col, can you make this black and white please, but leave Vicky's hat blue?"

I have no idea why he wanted it, but I did my best to oblige

Ha ha, we have a primary colour hat thing going on this morning, Colin.Smile
I'm not a big fan of colour with black and white but, this image does lend itself to the treatment you've given it. Very nicely done, well done that man.

V1 for me, too. Pure mono would work, too, but the colour popping makes it all about the hat, not the ladies, to my mind.

Yes John ... but my pal wanted it ... not me!

Morning Colin. I'm out of my depth on this one but it's working for me! Not sure why but I think it may be because: the central figure is wearing the hat, she is marginally the tallest of the group and the hat is of a different and more fluid form than the other two which are trilby-esque. (Never thought I'd ever use the word trilby-esque but it's upset the spell checker so happy days!!! 🤣 ) In any event it's a lovely portrait and I like both versions.
(Given the sense of good taste and smartness conveyed by today's image I've made my way to Knightsbridge; I'm working on reverse diagonals in accordance with Stovold's revised definition of 'nip'. I hope that clarifies matters. 🧐 )

OK, Colin. The customer is always right (even if he's a non-paying client).
