Blue Nectar

A Swallowtail butterfly feeding on the nectar of a Blue Aphyllanthes flower...

... sunshine pouring through it's wings...

Provence 2008

(this species feeds whilst still fluttering it's wings for balance, making it particularly difficult to get a shot like this! They feed no more than a second on each flower so you have to anticipate which flower they will go to next and set up the shot before hand!)

After hundreds of attempts... finally got a decent one!

Cracking shot Tim. Both the butterfly and the flower are stunning subjects so to get the two together looks amazing!

Having seen these muself now I can imagine how hard this was to get with the fluttering wings. Timing is perfect!
