Position myself on top of my shed roof to take this series of pictures. I was only a few feet away from the nest but the Blue tits took no notice of me.
The pro shot feature of the camera is practically useful for this type of shots; temporary storing in a number of pictures in a buffer using a round-robin method by holding the shutter button halfway down, then takes a full series of shots including the round-robin buffered shots to SD card when the shutter button is press fully down. For this particular shot I pressed the shutter button down fully when the blue tit head pop out; in real time (guessing now) the blue tit was only in my view finder for a tenth of a second.
The picture was processed using ON1 photo raw using Layers, using masking painting out a Blue tit image then inverting masking on each layer so the Blue tits appear on one photo. There are some very good training videos from On1 on this technique
