Boat at Portencross

By Irishkate
Another club outing this week to Portencross on Ayrshire coast.
The shadow here is from an old castle, an image of which I'll upload also.
My prime aim last night was to practise long exposures but the tide was out
so not many waves. The midges were out also and we all went home early!
Thank you for kind comments and votes for Balmaha Sunset and special thanks to Billy
(williamsloan) for his continuing support and User Award.

You fairly get around with your camera club, Kate: and I do like this V 1 shot, and although the light was rather flat, you made the most of the prevailing conditions and captured this scene in a balanced composition with the boat's blue band and outboard showing up against the dark banks.

Well composed images, Kate. I love boats and this one looks wonderful with those colours, the castle under that fabulous sky is another beauty. Well done! Excellent!

I love both images Kate and I envy you and your camera club, also you have such scenery within reach. V1 for me, such a tranquil scene and I like the sombre colours.

Morning Kate, two good shots here, I like the viewpoint in v1 but the cloud movement in v2 just wins it for me, just a little longer on the exposure or some dodging on the foreground will bring that detailin! A well crafted pair of images Kate

I like the composition in v1 Kate. The rock on the right helps hold attention in on the main subject.

A good composition, Kate, and a well placed rock on the right as Jason points out. The shadow areas could do with a little more light. Lovely sky in v2 as well.

(if there's movement in the sea for your long exposures, remember the boat will move as well)

The coastline looks a great place to explore Kate and perhaps return when the light is better. You've made the most of the conditions with both of these images - and Dave has a good point (one for me to remember too!).

I have read through the comments and I am going to buck the trend and say V2 is my fav simply because of the wonderful colours. I have never really tried really long exposures as I don't have the appropriate filters but these are two very good attemptsWinkGrinGrinGrinGrin
