Boat on Loch Rusky

By Irishkate
Out with the Landscape group at weekend a new member took us to a little fishing loch
unknown to me - mind you there are over 1600 lochs and one Lake in Scotland.
It rained quite a bit but we managed a few images when the sun made an appearance.
Many thanks for V&C for Beechnut - Cliff thought it might be a chestnut? I thought it
looked like a little brooch!
Special thanks to Colleen for her lovely User Award.

A very well observed and composed image of this delightful setting. I like the way the ropes leads us into the image.

Thanks for sharing Kate

You've used the rope well, Kate and the water colour is beautifully saturated. The sky is a bit bland though and could easily be cropped perhaps with a crop off the right and left (to leave the rope going into the bottom left corner??) (mods?)

Wonderfully composed beautiful image, Kate. Love the ropes leading to the lovely boat, the light on the water and the water lily leaves.

as Dave has said good use of the rope to lead you out to the boat the saturation in the water is great ...what loch?

Hi Kate
First I saw just the upper part of the picture (without the rope) two things popped in my mind.
1. You are stranded, you need some help I'm coming, I'm coming)
2. Lulu's song (yes I'm old) " the boat that I row"
Good shot of a lonely, abandon boat middle in beautiful nature.
Love it
Take care of yourself, Kate

Hi Kate. Composition is spot on and the lochan is a beautiful tone of blue. Of course, the sky is rendered very naturally and is as seen. You could, as an experiment use a digital grad to slightly darken the top of the image. This could then contain the frame and tie in a bit more with the tone of the water. Real nit picking there though and it's a lovely shot.

I like Daves crop but I wouldn't have cropped the sky but would have probably darkened it a little as Alun suggested.
Still a fine image though and what is more is that I never realised there was over 1600 lochs in Scotland! Wow!Grin

Very nice Kate - I was about to suggest cropping a bit of that sky off and then saw that Dave beat me to it. - Like his mod
