Nicely toned, composed, & atmospheric photograph with lots of cerebral interpretations.

Blimey - thank you Julia for your award - much appreciated Smile

Thank you too Peter and fellow clickers. I must admit that none of my still life photos have any particular interpretation in mind though of course sometimes they are on a theme. I leave the meanings to everyone else Smile

Thats very nice, the props are excellent and the composition is very good as well.

In art terms this is very much like a vanitas type of work. These were prevelant in the Netherlands in the 16th and 17th century and contained symbolic objects portraying the inevibility of death and the vanity of this earthly life. Very cheery stuff. I've done a few of these types of shots but sadly I had to give my skull back to the Medical Centre in work....

I have contemplated going though the list of vanitas items and meanings Andy and then coming up with a deep and meaningful image but I must admit that much of my stuff is kinda flung together at first and then bits removed or added from a purely aesthetic point of view rather than meaning!

So your skull was the real deal? I wish I had a real one but have to make do with this, admittedly very good, plaster one.....
