Bottle of Notes

By oldgreyheron
Created by Claes Oldenburg & Coosje van Bruggen was inaugurated in Middlesbrough's Central Gardens in 1993. The first image is an upward interior view, the second puts the bottle in perspective in the gardens. The outer white words read "We had every advantage we could desire in Observing the whole of the passage of the Planet Venus over the Sun's disk" by Captain James Cook; and the inner blue ones are "I like to remember seagulls in full flight gliding over the ring of canals" written by Coosje himself. The whole thing is a play on the maritime experience of sending notes in bottles - here we have the notes forming the bottle.

I totally failed with this a while ago, couldn't find an image that I liked. This is brilliant.
