Bournemouth - Before the Crowds: Beachcombing

By TheHucklebrookHound
One of England's premier beaches, at 9 a.m. yesterday, when it was a little cool and dull. The time to take photos and for the beachcomber with his metal detector to find dropped coins.

I'm kneeling in the sand, the Pier on the horizon and I could see the beachcomber walking along towards me, always at the same distance out from the beach. He probably thought I was taking pretty snaps of pretty seashells, but I purposefully had the fisheye on and so he walked within 4 feet of me!

No graduated grey filters can be fitted to the front of a fisheye of course, so exposure and processing had to extra carefully undertaken. By 10 a.m, families and children were piling in, I'd put my camera away and by midday it was heaving and hot - I got the bus home!
