have attempted to create/portray an action shot whilst placing the subject in the wider surroundings......so am looking for critique here

image was taken with a speedlite and rear curtain and my questions here are:

1. Does the composition work - including the sky
2. Is the flash spread right?
3. Mono conversion for action shot?

any other critique be most welcome

thanks for looking

Paul

An excellent example of motor sport/action photography, which for me ticks all the right boxes and many more. Fantastic processing.

great shot, think i might have gone with a landscape orientated shot with the biker jumping into the shot, the flash spread looks very good and the mono conversion together with the negative exposure compensation has added to the drama Smile

Agree with Jeremy about the space for jumping into. The sky shape does little foe the image except confuse the eye.

Agree with Jeremy and Dougie feedback, If this were mine I would crop in by about 2" from the top and give is some more space to the rhs.
Still gives you the rider in the wider eviroment but would focue you in more on the image.
The flash looks ok but is picking up some of the foreground could try is with a snoot to just focus it on the rider.
