This is a fair effort at Rock Photography. I like the dark background and the angle of the guitar.

Unfortunately the photograph is very flat, it's as though you have used window lighting. Good rock photographs relies on strong coloured lighting and lots of contrast, which is sadly lacking in this image. Also you have managed to crop his hair and guitar.

Here's my (almost identical) effort of REM's Bass Guitarist Mike Mills, taken with a 300mm (450mm equivalent) in 2008. It's not perfect but you will see the difference that good, strong lighting makes:-

Hey thanks for the comment =] This was my first band studio shoot and i really appreciate the advise, i have another shoot wednesday and i will be sure to make sure i don't over crop and have a stronger lighting =]
