Breakfast opposite the Kremlin

By nellacphoto
The first day of our most extraordinary of trips, last year ... a week in Moscow and St Petersburg, Russia

Waking up to this view at breakfast made me pinch myself. It had been a long slog just to get our visas ... didn't realise when we booked what that would entail!

Worth it in the end though. Some amazing memories.

These photos are of part of our guided, first morning drive round Moscow

Long story short, but I had been advised not to take my heavy duty pro camera gear, as it might arouse too many questions

So I opted to just rely on my Samsung Galaxy S8+ mobile phone. Not ideal but it sufficed

Traffic jam!
I never ever thought that there would be a day I'd say I miss that, hahI think the set fits perfectly in the Mobile Monday category.

But I'd say an old superzoom camera like the Panasonic DMC-FZ45 would fall into the take everywhere category.

Lovely set

Thanks Pablo

Agreed. A small superzoom would have been ideal.

But after two heavy duty Nikons and a few lenses, I decided enough was enough!

Lovely interesting set, Colin, and your Galaxy S8+ did you proud.

It did Mike ... unless I zoomed in on anything and the quality (blown up on my Apple Mac) really deteriorated (didn't bother with any of those here)

Also, of course, being used to editing RAWS at will from my Nikons, editing phone pics is pretty limited

That said, were were lucky with the weather, which was fantastically hot for the last week of May and which gave some beautiful blue skies.

These are the first few of the 1,400 photos I took. Maybe I'll post a few more ...
