Bride & Groom

By GordonLack
Attended the wedding of my 2nd cousin yesterday, Rose is 91 years of age and Ray is 92. They first met when in 1937 when Ray gave Rose a glass ornament as a present which she has kept all of of these years. The war came and they lost touch with each other, Ray emigrated to Canada where he married and raised his family and Rose married and raised her own family here in the UK. Both lost there respected spouses, Ray after 70 years of marriage and Rose a number of years ago.
Last year Rose met Ray's sister in the Market Town where she lives who told her that Ray was feeling down after the loss of his wife. Rose wrote to Ray not expecting a reply, next she knew Ray had hopped onto a plane and arrived on her doorstep in April last year. He went back to Canada and returned again last October where he proposed and was rejected several times before Rose said yes. Ray returned to Canada before returning to the UK at the end of January this year with his life's worldly goods packed into 4 suitcases. The Wedding was well attended with over 85 guests of family and friends, some having travelled from Canada, many meeting relations for the first time.
Just goes to show you are never too old for romance.
