Bring me sunshine

By GrahamBaines
Eric Morecambe, undoubtably one of the funniest men of our time, who was tragically taken from us in 1984 after a heart attack. He and Ernie Wise will always be remembered for the words of their theme song "Bring me laughter, bring me sunshine, bring me love". Unfortunately when we visited his statue on Morecambe Promenade on a sodden Saturday afternoon, even the birds didn't seem to have the enthusiasm to raise a cry; but the bronze seagull looking up at him from his perch at the bottom of the steps seemed to have a wry smile on his face. Perhaps he could see the sunshine that we couldn't.

Second shot today of this remarkable statue that I've commented on and both have their appeal. I like the way here that, despite Eric's best efforts, the people are all looking elsewhere!
Good timing Graham.

Not a fan, personally, but that doesn't prevent me from admiring this wonderful photograph in which the four distinct elements all seem to comment on each other. Not sure which bit I like best - the hoody perhaps?

Curious, it's the second upload featuring this statue today - and both totally different. The bronze gull makes this one work, he's brilliant. very well composed.

Superb composition - very impressed. Love the silhouettes from the statue and the hoodie - but also the couple under the umbrella.

A very odd photograph and, it seems to me, very much in tune with the man's humour.
