Broad Bodied Chaser - metamorphosis

By NoelBennettPhotography
Now for something a little bit different.
I've been waiting for ID on this Dragonfly from the BDS
(British Dragonfly Society).
Their verdict is a Broad Bodied Chaser,
latin name Libellula depressa.
ID partly based on short wide body of it's abdomen.

All I know is it stayed still enough, long enough, for me to capture it's metamorphosis - depth of field nailed using f/9 at 1.8m distance, with a 400mm lens on tripod.
Ref: metamorphosis

I'm no expert (far from it), but I wonder if they are mistaken. I've found a series of emerging Broad-bodied here ...........the exuvia in your image looks too long! This might be a Emporer or Chaser. Smile

Beautifully caught whatever it is!

Edit: Here is an emerging Emporer Dragonfly .

Thanks Karen.
You probably realise i'm not an expert either. An Emporer or Chaser is fine by me Smile
I do hope an expert will step forward and confirm your suspicions.
