Broken 4

By david1810
The last in my series.

Any comment/critique to help me improve is appreciated.

as you can see from the exif data this was the last pose and the light was diminishing rapidly. Dudler another reason to go studio lights.

Hi David,
Interesting set, I've only just come across this one and have just finished looking at the others. I'm not sure how much room you had, but I might have been tempted here with this pose to actually make the figure much smaller in the picture to emphasise loneliness, despair and loss. With this shot I would be tempted to burn in the edges as the light floor detracts from the figure.
I can understand your problem with lenses, I have the same camera with the 24-105mm, but I also managed to get the 70-200mm IS II USM which is a great lens, however I also bought the 50mm 1.8 which was very reasonable priced and certainly worth getting if you can afford it.

For me this is the best of the lot. The picture tells the whole story without words.

If I was you it's worth posting in the main gallery and watch the awards roll in...

I've added a quick mod where I've made the figure smaller in the image.

Great subject and moody lighting. I like the modification also, but do like the detail in the closer one.

I think Norm's mod works very well indeed, and his suggestion is a sound one - not hte onl yway to go, but a good one.

Studio lights will give consistency - and, to be fair, I've been impressed with sets at well under 200 for three lights with stands and softboxes. Not as powerful and robust as the more mainstream ones, but for less than the price of most lenses (the 50/1.8 excepted) a bargain...

An additional posing idea - lying, in what is called, I think, 'broken doll' posture, though i call it baby giraffe... Limbs at awkward angles. That may also work while the strings are still being pulled - far less elegant than your first post in the series..

Hi all, thanks for taking time to look and comment on my images.

Norm I like your idea for the mod, might go and play with that myself

Dudler, yes I have another 6 months in the course so I might experiment with their studio lights and decide on my genre. At the moment I am enjoying my seascapes, I will post a few and hopefully you will give me your valued thoughts.

regards

David
