Thanks Johnjo, yes I used flash, a Sigma close up flash unit (called a ring flash but in fact has two small tubes mounted either side of the lens)
Very simple to use with variable output settings

Great set, but V4 ticks my box !.......never seen a butterfly 'upside-down' before, with such exquisite clarity & colour....1st class !!

Yes Lillian, I did use a tripod, although most of the times this butterfly landed, it was in bushes on a steep slope, which meant I was often only using two of the legs.
