Building Food.

By keithh
Snapped while chef was setting up for the shot I've dropped in the mods. The lighting was already on the food and flatware but not turned on at this point outside which gave this very high keyed look between himself and the background.

So, you had lighting outside and inside?

Don't recognise him, but then I've not got very far through my I Spy book of chefs.
Wink

Only thing that bugs is the reflection on the top of the window.

Like the Mod shot as well.

yep...lighting inside and then outside on the shwubbery.
The reflection is the outline of the overhead softbox, but then it's a candid shot so I ignored it.

Really rather good!, works well in b/w, I think the expression you have captured is great....
Deserves more recognition, perhaps a robin perched in the shrubbery would have helped :o)

One arm looks false, I seem to remember reading about a chef who'd lost one, or is just the lighting or position that makes it look a bit odd.
Can't make out what the food is, and anyway, aren't fish knives supposed to be 'de trop' !
Sometimes when you ask for more comments, you may not necessarily get exactly what you wanted. LOL. Smile

LOL...cheap and nasty fish knives are de trop, Lydia....however, these are Odiot Flatware and very non de trop.
That arm is poised to catch the piece of cod should it topple from the vegetables....but it's a real one.

It does look like his left hand is a bit..erm..stumpy.

This picture makes me ask a lot of questions...
Why is he spooning cream out of a wok? What's the significance of wearing a ring on your right middle finger? Why is he wearing a tee-shirt that belongs to Answersonapostcard? Who cuts his hair?

I'll click for the mod which is pretty good, apart from looking a bit warm...who did it?
;o)

a couple of minor points, cos I is ignoring the rubbish about his arm and the fact that your cheap monitor is over cooked.
Wink

It's fish...and that aint a wok and the T shirt is a crew shirt from a private yacht....although the thought of him wearing a Ken fanshirt is .....quite frankly worrying.

Ah... there's the light I was looking for..... Too bad about the rubber arm though, other than that it looks real. And comb your hair the next time you are taking photos with reflective spoons!

Okay keep your shirt on. Fish eh? Looks like berries in the mod.
Didn't he mind, as he got to the delicate part of building this up, that you came stomping up and blasted him with the full force of your lights?

didn`t want to be added to the ratio of views...: ) can type crap but the mod is rather good : ) )
to be honest this is obviously a well taken shot but it I find it rather boring maybe thats not the correct word but it dosen`t inspire me to suddenly get my old man cooking, with my little fuji under his nose.

forgot the light reflection in the window is probably the robin with binoculars : )

Only meant to be an illustrative shot, not any great work of art...although at least it's well taken.Wink
course he minded, Boyd.....but as he knows that he's not really paying me anywhere near as much as he should be...he can lump it.

and Elizabeth!!!...stop speaking in code, ;cos personally I don't want to know whether you can get your 'old man cooking' by waving your 'little fuji under his nose'

bloody disgusting...and before the watershed too.
