Wonderful portrait image.
There are many ways to convert to black and white or even to have more contol over a b&w image.
I hope you don't mind but here is a great and easy way I use I like to share for those that don't know.
Open your image in PS, and ensure you have the Properties window open. It you don't go to "Windows" and click the Properties box.
Now go to Layer/New Adjustment layer/Gradient Map or click on the b&w circle at the bottom of the layers panel, the Gradient Map.
This will bring up the Gradient Map in the Properties Panel. Now click on the panel bar on the top to bring up the Gradient Editor box.
If the bar is not black to white open the Basic box and select the first box.
Now using the sliders under a clour bar move the sliders in, the middle slider will appear as soon as you move the white slider. Slowly move each slider until required adjustments. The effect only happens when you release the mouse button key.
I start with the white then the middle and last the black, then fine adjustments after that.
This looks a lot in words but only takes seconds to do. I hope this helps someone...
