burnt banksia 2

By texturencolour
Another view of a banksia seed pod, blackened by a bush fire. This genus of plants was named after Sir Joseph Banks who sailed with Captain Cook on his 1768 voyage to Tahiti and Australia. It was his job as the ship's botanist to collect and record plant material on the voyage. He discovered over 110 new genera and 1300 new species.

Interesting to see the full head, but I much prefer yesterday's more enigmatic composition and closer approach.

Good to see the larger picture. How about a real close up of the patterns in the bit on the right? Smile
