Busy Bumblebees

By Glostopcat
A set of eight images of busy bumblebees gathering pollen all taken this summer. V1 is of a bumblebee on a field scabious taken at the Bill Smyllie Nature Reserve near Cleeve Hill in Gloucestershire. V2 is of a red tailed bumblebee on some knapweed at the top of Leckhampton Hill near Cheltenham. V3 and v4 are of bumblebees on some french marigolds in my back garden, and v5-v8 are of some bumblebees gathering pollen from hollyhocks growing on the edge of my allotment.

A great set, Ed, my favourite has to be V.1, on my favourite wild flower, the scabious. Wonderful detail in both flower and bee, super images. Carol

Excellent series Ed; each one shows a different angle on the bee and flower. My favourite has to be V2. I love the strong colours and composition.

Some great shots here, Ed. The detail you manage to capture is so good and can be appreciated best in those where the bee is pollen covered. I would be reluctant to select a favourite, although V 1, 2 and 8 must come close. Really lovely selection of shots.

Summer as it should be. I love the heart-of-the-matter shots, particularly V5 & V6 - and then V8 is just so funny. 'You've picked up a speck of dust, dear. There. And there. And well there...'

No way I'm going to try and pick a favourite from this lot Ed, if possible, I think you've surpassed yourself here, the pollen on the bees is amazing!
Rgds., Jim
